| How do I read the
graphs? Due
to the number of lines represented on some of the graphs
in the Seattle District H&H Branch Homepage, the
following tips should assist you in correctly reading the
graphs.
The Zero Damage
and Major Damage lines in red are related to the
stage of the river. The river stage is the
elevation, in feet, of the river at the remote
gage location.
The flow, in cubic
feet per second (cfs), represents the amount or
volume of water passing the remote gage at the
time of collection.
Stage and flow are
related based on rating tables created and
maintained by the US Geological Survey. Every
stage reading can be directly linked with a flow
or volume of water currently in the river.
Most graphs have a
specific color representing various types of
data.
Reservoir or
Lake Elevation: Blue
Reservoir
Outflow or River Stage: Red
Reservoir
Inflow: Green
River Flow:
Cyan(Light Blue)
Air
Temperature: Black
Incremental
Precipitation: Yellow
If there are multiple
gages on a single graph, such as basin summaries, then
the color scheme listed above may not be followed.
