Portland District Water Quality Reservoir Satellite Images

Enhanced true color images of reservoirs from the Landsat satellites are presented below. The raw data was provided by the U.S. Geological Survey, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers processed the data into an image format. All recent Landsat 8 satellite images are presented regardless of the quality of the images. Selected Landsat 7 images are also presented. Clouds, smoke, contrails, topographic shade, sun glint off of open water, black stripes of no data due to sensor failure and partial images are factors that negatively impact the interpretation of some images. Interpretation of the image is the responsibility of the user. Suspended sediment and algae blooms are two common phenomena that impact the color of the water.
